Right to Vote Cemetery Tour

Join us for a walking tour through the original section of Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery and explore the history of women’s suffrage and how Emporia fits into the national narrative. Along the way, hear stories of several local women who fought to secure the right to vote from the early days of Kansas’ statehood until 1912 when Kansas became the 8th state to pass women’s suffrage. We will start at the Lyon County Museum where we will have coffee and donuts and hear a short presentation by Lisa Sollar and look at artifacts that go along with our theme. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
