Couch to 5K
Our Couch to 5K class is back! Do you want to be a runner? We can help you make it happen! This program takes you one step at a time from a non-runner to a runner who can finish a 5K. Three days a week for 45 minutes will transition you from the couch to walking to running over 12 weeks. The class will finish by running the Walnut Turkey Day Dash on Thursday, November 23. Soup Camp
Fall is here and you know what that means. Soups and sweater weather! The ERC invites you to our Soup Camp, a fun and interactive class where we learn how to make all different types of soups together. Tiffany Miller, our ERC Program Supervisor, (and former chef) will be leading this class. If you are a pro or wanting to learn new skills, we are here to have fun together. Each class, we will make something different and reap the rewards at the end. Grab your friends and family to learn some delicious soup recipes together.

Park Clean Up
Volunteering together is a great way to socialize, meet new people and get great exercise while helping our community by cleaning up our parks for all to enjoy. This is also a great opportunity to get volunteer hours for school or get your club together for a community project. Every other Wednesday, we will meet at a local park and clean up trash as weather permits. Help us keep our parks in tiptop shape. We look forward to seeing you there.

First Aid/CPR Certification Class
Need to get your certification updated? From nurses to daycare providers, we’ve got you covered. Classes will be the first Thursday of the month from September to December. Students will have online assignments and testing to complete before continuing on to the hands-on learning so make sure to register at least one-week prior to class. Your assignments will be emailed to you after you have registered. The certifications offered are:
HSI Basic Life Support (CPR): This Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer course is ideal for medical personnel, first responders, students, lifeguards, and other individuals who need this certification. Certification is valid for up to two years and includes AED certification.
HSI Pediatric First Aid | CPR AED: This course is designed to meet national standards for pediatric first aid, CPR and AED training. It is ideal for childcare providers.
HSI Basic First Aid Certification: Basic First Aid certification is valid for two years.

Haunted Rec
Who’s ready for Halloween?? No need to go out of town, we have your Haunted House right here in Emporia. The ERC is proud to offer our first-ever Haunted Rec. Full of scares and frights! This one-time weekend event is sure to scare you into the Halloween spirit.
For our “scaredy cats,” come and enjoy our parking lot party with food and fun for all! (Weather permitting)
Dates: Friday, October 20 or Saturday, October 21
Age: Recommended for ages 11 and up
Location: ERC
Time: 8:00 to 11:00pm
Fee: $15 per person for advance ticket - tickets can be purchased online, call 620-340-6300 or at the ERC office, must be purchased by Wednesday, October 18
