Looking for activities for an outdoor event? The Emporia Recreation Center has a wide variety of lawn games that can be checked out. Call us when you’re planning your next company picnic, church get-together, or family gathering. We can get you set up with some fun outdoor games like; Croquet, Baggo (Corn Hole), Washers, Bolo, Bocce, Horse Shoes and Kubb.
Mystery Lunch Bunch Grab a couple of your friends and your spirit of adventure, and we will provide the ride to lunch! May 17 and July 19 will be out of town so you pay for lunch. April 20, June 15 and August 16 will be local mysteries so lunch will be included in the fee. We will do the driving to get you there and back safely so you can relax and enjoy the company. Please let us know if you are unable to get to ERC, and we will be glad to pick you up. Daisy Basket Flower Arranging – June 9 Paula Roper of Paula’s Creations will teach you not only how to make a beautiful bouquet of daisies, but also how to tie a bow to accompany the floral arrangement. Each participant will take home a basket arrangement of assorted daisies for their summer table or to give to a friend. Register by June 1 . Learn the Art of Canning- July 28 and August 25 Preserving the abundance available now ensures a year-round supply of delicious and wholesome goodies! The effort expended in one very busy day pays off on those cold winter days when summer seems so far away. In July, we’ll have tomatoes, peaches, corn, green beans, etc. In August, we will make melon pickles and salsa, plus more veggies. Recipes and tips for submission of canned goods to county and state fairs will be provided. All class participants will bring home their share of preserved items. Instructor Tracey Graham learned to can from her grandmother, to freeze from her mother and to dehydrate from books. She loves food of all kinds and enjoys sharing with others. Couch to 5K Want to transform yourself from a couch potato to a 5K runner? Have you been considering taking up jogging as an activity, but unsure how to start? This 45 minute beginner’s running class is for you! Enjoy this easy introduction to running as a sport, transitioning from couch to walking to running over the 10 week program. CPR AND FIRST AID Certification ASHI Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification This Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer course is ideal for medical personnel, first responders, students, lifeguards, childcare providers, and other individuals who need this certification. Certification is valid for up to two years and includes AED certification. Students must complete e-learning assignments and bring on-line certificate to class to receive certification. On-line assignment will be emailed to student after payment/registration.
