Science Camp Have you ever wanted to go turtle trapping or hunt for animal tracks? Maybe you would rather do a little snake wrangling or bug catching! These are just some of the exciting activities that ESU Biology faculty will lead your child through in this ESU Biology Camp. This camp will run the week of May 26-29. Activities will include both indoor and outdoor activities. Campers will meet each morning on the 1st floor of the ESU Science Hall and will need to bring a sack lunch Tuesday through Thursday. Lunch will be provided on Friday. The camp will take some off-site trips to the Ross Research Area. All proceeds will help support maintenance of ESU natural areas. Camp Wilson Campers will enjoy the favorites like fishing and swimming and can also look forward to a different theme of activities each day. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Camp counselors will cook lunch on Monday and Friday. Parents are asked to bring an evening meal for THEIR FAMILY on Thursday evening and stay for the camp program. Campers will need to be dropped off and picked up at Wilson Park, located on the Emporia State University Campus. Emporia’s longest running Day Camp, started in 1960! Porpoise Swim Camp Ready for the next level of swimming after swim lessons? Join our experienced coaches as they take your child through swim team workouts and teach them to compete using all competitive swim strokes. This 2-hour class will include one hour in the pool, team building activities, and lunch at 11:30am in the concession area. Your child will learn what it is like to swim at a more competitive level. At the end of the session, your child will receive a medal and get to take home their own swim cap. Camps are offered for kids 5-9 years of age and will concentrate on pitching and catching as well as hitting and defense. Emporia High Soccer Academy EHS Soccer Coach will be hosting a youth soccer camp with the focus on fundamentals- ball skills, field-spacing, and offensive/defensive positioning. Ages 7-10 will develop their passing/ball skills, and understanding of rules. Ages 11-14 will focus on teamwork and offensive and defensive spacing on the field. The camp will provide a fun, safe and productive environment, with the maximum amount of learning about the most popular sport in the world. ERC/Lady Spartan Basketball Academy Are you a beginner basketball player, are you a seasoned professional or are you somewhere in between? All levels are welcome to join EHS Head Basketball coach Carolyn Lee as she leads you through the fundamentals of basketball! Passing, catching, dribbling, defensive positioning and rebounding are just some of the basics skills that Coach Lee will provide. The girls will receive two hours of fundamental basketball training followed by two hours of swimming at the Jones Aquatic Center! The Academy will meet on Tue/Thur afternoons from 1:30 to 5:30. We will bus the girls from the Emporia Recreation Center to the Jones Aquatic and parents will pick up their child from the JAC.
