Track Club 2017

Junior Golf                                                                                                                                  This instructional golf program will teach the basic fundamentals of golf, along with the proper etiquette of the game.  It is designed to meet the needs of the beginning golfer, all the way up to experienced players.  The program will be held at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course, with Marcus Erkel, head Golf Professional. Participants will meet at Emporia Recreation Center and ride our bus to the golf course. A qualified instructor (s) will conduct the program.  Bring your own clubs if possible.  Loaner clubs may be available for checkout if needed and a snack bar is available at the golf course. Bring water and a hat. The last two weeks of the program, parents are invited to participate with their kids on the course.  There will be six sessions.  Sign up for either Tuesdays or Thursdays.                     Ages: 7-14 years                                                                                                                        Dates:  Summer 2018 .                                                                                                           Fee: $55 USD253 Resident   $60 Non-Resident (includes transportation and green fees)   Time: Bus departs at 1:00pm and returns at 3:00pm                                                      Registration Closes:                                                Min: 15 / Max: 30 (per day)

Emporia Junior Golf Development League   This league will be for the development of golfers seeking to compete in tournament golf. The league will consist of an 8 week schedule and will meet twice a week. Meetings will vary between practice days and play days. Students will learn etiquette, scoring, swing fundamentals, tournament preparation, and more. Practices will be set in a learning but fun environment, and will focus on both individual and team golf scenarios. Play days will consist of 9 hole scoring opportunities. Students will attempt to “level” up throughout the season. Lower level students will compete in a team fashion, while higher level students will play individual matches. This program is for all skill levels and will vary in intensity based on ability.  This is the first of it’s kind in Emporia and will help turn your athlete into a future competitive golfer.      Fee: $125/8 week session (includes practice balls, green fees, hat, and instruction)    Ages: 7-14 years  Date: Wednesday and Friday mornings starting June 2018   Locations: Emporia Municipal Golf Course and Emporia Country Club Golf Course. League will meet at Emporia Country Club on the first day . Youth Tennis                                                                                                                            John Cayton, Head Tennis Coach at ESU, will be offering tennis instruction this year.  John brings a wealth of tennis background and experience.  He is a certified tennis professional by the U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) at their highest level P1 and has taught tennis for over 20 years.  Eight lessons are scheduled MONDAY thru THURSDAY, with selected FRIDAYS used for make-up days due to the weather.  Rackets will be provided (when necessary) and all tennis balls; bring your own water bottle.  If you have questions, please email John Cayton at jccayton@sbcglobal.net. Track Club       Open for grades 1-8. This 6-week program is designed for instructional learning and enjoyment of track and field.  Our coach is ESU Track athlete Keiona Doctor.  Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Emporia Middle School track. Tae Kwon Do     Family Fun! Fitness! Flexibility!  Leap of Faith Martial Arts (affiliated with Ultimate Martial Arts of Newton, KS) invites you to join our Tae Kwon Do program.   Learn self defense, poomsae and more from Black Belts Brad, Noah and Madelynne Douglas. Classes focus on the tenets of TKD: courtesy, integrity, self control, perseverance and indomitable spirit.  Tuesdays/Thursdays: 6:15pm (ages 6 and up)  Tuesdays/Thursdays:  7:15  P.M.
